Our Pets

So what is this part all about - lol - Animals - ones that had an impact on me or the family. From my first dog Pippa- through rabbits, hampsters, guinea pigs, cats, and now three little fur babies - Bree, Amber and Gizmo, the last two being two of Bree's puppies. Originally when she had her litter, we were only going to keep one - but we (OK - I) fell in love with both and couldn't choose!

Bree is very good tempered - and loves to meet other dogs, when we are out walking, although she has suddenly got into a habit of just sitting down when a dog appears! This can mean that our walks are somewhat longer than they need to be - however once the dog is close Bree will do the normal sniffy and "get to know you" thing that doggies do! With people she is normally very friendly and loves children - but can only eat one at a time! (Sorry dad joke!).

Amber, for all she is the smallest is by far, the most vocal of the three. When I am walking her and Gizmo (they are inseparable and there is no way I can walk the three on my own) and if we see or meet any other dogs, she is the one barking and often snarling (in a cuteish way) and she is happy to approach anyone - well she does so love her strokes and cuddles. She will face up to any dog that comes close - no matter what their size

Gizmo, on the other hand, is frightened by just about everything! When we see anyone (including people he knows) his tail drops and he runs behind the back of my legs. Once we have moved off, he keeps looking behind him, until the threat can no longer be seen, at which point his tail bushes upwards - and his swagger returns. Having said that recently he has started to bark at anyone who gets close. In the house - once a visitor has sat down on the sofa he will approach - and then he is the friendliest of dogs!

They all love their walkies - whether it is here at home or down at the caravan, but as mentioned I cannot take all three at the same time. I did try it once, but it was a nightmare, it's bad enough with Amber and Gizmo when one poops - but it was a nightmare with the three. Having said that even with two that can be a fun experience - one time I had Amber at the end of her lead pooping, and Gizmo at the end of his lead - in the opposite direction also pooping! So, I had to wait for one to finish, get the two bags ready (yes I carry bags on the leads), pick up one poop and then the other!

Another great walking experience was when I took Bree onto the beach. Like most of the beaches in Sussex - there is not so much sand but tons of stones. After about 20 yards she sat down and refused to move! Guess the stones were hurting her paws, so Daddy had to pick her up and carry her back up the beach, which was the last time we tried that. When she was smaller and we first brought her to the caravan with us - she had loved walking on the beach - but I guess as she grew up all that came to a halt!

Last summer, we had occasions where we have had more doggies at home - another couple of Bree's pups (Arya and Roxy) did stay with us for a couple of days, and then Arya returned for two weeks (while the family were down the caravan), and one Friday for a while we had 7 doggies in total. Obviously, we had Bree, Amber and Gizmo, and at the time Ayra was still staying with us, but due to vets' appointments we were visited by Star, Stitch and Lexi (yes another of Bree's pups!). Star and Stitch had lived with for a while a few years back, so it was almost a homecoming for them. A fun afternoon was had by all!
