About me

Overview

Let me introduce myself - I am Gordon and I am the idiot of the family - and also probably the most technically minded (gifted I think is the word I am actually looking for....) of the older ones - I think my son and nephew might have things to say about that though........

I am probably very lucky in that I worked for the same major financial institution for over 44 years. In the old days I probably would have said bank but that is now the dirtiest word in the western world. All bankers are the scum of the earth - or so the press will tell you. Well this ex banker does not have an evil cell n his body! Even people that have really hurt me will not have anything evil done to them (I might think the odd naughty thought though.... hehehe). What can I say - everyone is being tarred with a nasty brush - there are loads of people that I know and worked with who are fine decent people - but yes there are some that are the kind of people that should be hung! Please note no names being mentioned.... I finished working for the institution in January 2023 and am currently just enjoying some time off (means that I am not doing a lot lol).

It is my ugly mug that appears in the logo - thanks to two people for that piece of genius - firstly to Paul who I used to work with who caricatured me a few years ago (actually more like 30 years ago) - and fortunately I have not facially changed that much from then - and my good old mucker Ian who put it together with a nest - giving it an almost 70's feel at the same time.

I have two great kids - Andrew (or Andy as he has been to me almost all of his life) and Lauren (Lollipop or Lolly!) So how did she get that name? - well Andy was only 2 and could not get his tongue around the word "Lauren" - so he called her lolly! Name stuck! She will always be my lollipop - and my baby! Yes she has me wound around her little finger and probably knows it! Same as Andy has his mum! Both are now grown and have provided me with some fantastic grandkids. I am also "step" dad to a further 7 kids, although three of them are also mt nephews and neices which when I finish this section of the site you might understand about

Ok so a little about me. I am now 64 years old, although there is a five year old trying to get out! Don't get me wrong I can and do act my age most of the time, but have to admit sometimes loving to play the idiot! To some I have a sense of humour - although it is the very obvious and exceptionally silly kind of one. If there is an obvious comment to make it's me that will make it. I make people smile - but it is probably because they are laughing at me. Yes I am the team clown, what can I say I am the butt of many jokes - but have broad enough shoulders. (that make me sound really stupid my butt is nowhere near my shoulders - doh!) I love to dress up - yes I have been known to cross-dress but any chance I get, I will put on glad rags and have a giggle.

I was fortunate in the late 70's and early 80's to be a clubbing DJ - and when my kids were small I used those skills and created a mobile disco called Razzamatazz, and performed at many weddings and parties, as well as doing the school fetes for the kids. Razzamatazz became a big part of my life - and I can honestly say that that we always gave people a "night to remember" - and was told so many times. The last time I DJ was a wedding for a friend of my daughter - but that was over 15 years ago and whilst I miss the buzz and interaction with a crowd, I don't miss all the other bits, like setting up and packing away - and then being unable to sleep for a couple of hours after mind....

I was married for 24 years - before we came to a parting of the ways - and I now live in Basildon with Pat, with who I have a fantastic life. She gives me the reason to live, she is the butter to my bread, the marmalade to my toast, the burger in my bun…… the very reason to live! Don't know why but I suddenly feel hungry…..

I have tried to break my life down into a few easily digestible parts (hmmm food again...) so that you can get an idea of who you are reading about. That is of course if you are having trouble sleeping and need something to aid your rest.....
